All You Need to Know About Mens Mono Hair System (22)

Toupees today can provide men an alternative treatment for hair loss and significantly alter one’s appearance with a new head full of hair. A hair replacement system is made of two materials;

  • The hair strands- can either be human hair or synthetic hair.
  • The base material

The base material is critical to the overall construction and quality of the hair system. The base material is used to set up the foundation of the toupee.

The base material plays 3 roles;

  • Connection- it is where the hair strands of the toupee are attached to keep the hair system stable.
  • It is what is laid to the scalp.
  • The base material plays a major role in creating an illusion and mimicking the wearer’s skin so that the toupee is undetectable, natural, and the hair looks like it is growing out of the wearer’s scalp.

Choosing the base material for your hair system is vital and should be taken seriously when selecting your toupee. The choice of your base material selection depends on the following:

  • Lifestyle– how you live your everyday life or when you choose to wear the hair system. Do you live an active lifestyle? Is going to the gym daily a must for you? Are you a runner? Do you have a desk job or are you out in the sun all day?
  • Experience – some toupees unless being installed by a professional are advised for people who have attached the hair system several times. Some base materials are not ideal for beginners or first-timers due to the delicateness of the base.
  • Cost– some base materials are much more costly than others.
  • Environment– where you live greatly determines the type of base material you need. Do you live in a warm environment or does your location experience all four seasons?
  • Length– how long do you want your hair system to be? The more sturdy the base material, the longer the hair length.
  • Lifespan– some toupees have a longer or shorter lifespan than others.
  • Density – how much volume of hair do you want on your toupee? The base material limits how much density the hair replacement system can take. It can be light, medium, or heavy density.
  • Purpose– this is important for the base material choice. Is the toupee for everyday wear, a special occasion, temporary, vacation, or is it a secondary toupee?
  • Durability– some base materials are light and delicate, easy to tear, whilst others are very strong, thick, and sturdy.
  • Naturalness– some base materials contribute to the extent of how natural the hair replacement system will appear when worn.

There are 3 main base materials one can choose from when getting their toupee: lace, mono, or skin. As there is so much that can be said about all 3, we will focus on the most popular base material in this article, lace.

What is a Lace Hair System

Unless you are under a rock, everyone has heard of a lace material used to construct wigs for both men and women. Your favorite celebrities wear lace hair systems on the red carpet. Lace hair systems are extremely popular globally because of their breathability factor. A lace hair system is a non-surgical hair replacement made of lace material. The lace hair system is made of finely knitted mesh fabric that can easily blend into the scalp. Mesh fabric is made from either nylon or polyester. It is pretty common when constructing base material and its demand due to the naturalness of the lace hair system on the wearer’s scalp. The mesh fabric has very tiny holes that allow for air circulation for the lace hair system.

Characteristics of Lace Hair System

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEN’S LACE HAIR SYSTEM (2)
  • Lace hair systems are light. This means that you feel wearing it does not feel cumbersome. Because of the lightweight material, one can wear the lace hair system all day and it will feel like your own head. Having a light base material allows you to live your normal life without thinking of your toupees on the head.
  • It is breathable. This is what makes it stand out from the other base materials. Lace hair systems thanks to the mesh fabric allow for air to come in and out, making it an ideal hair system for anyone.
  • It is soft. A low-quality hair system often feels dry and not so soft. This can cause a lot of friction to your scalp and possibly cause itchiness and makes your scalp sensitive. The lace hair system is very soft which means it can lay on top of your scalp all day and all night without causing any negative side effects. You will not even remember the lace hair system on.
  • The lace hair system is popular as it can give a virtually undetectable hairline. Lace material comes in different colors that can resemble different skin tones. This is beneficial in helping give the illusion that the hair is growing out of the scalp.

Lace hair system is ideal for:

  • Beginners- first time toupee wearers will do great with a lace hair system.
  • Anyone with a sensitive scalp due to the lace hair system being soft.
  • Hot weather, vacation- people who are active or swear a lot. No need to worry about sweat, thanks to the breathability factor of a lace hair system.

Lace hair systems have a durability of 1 month all the way to 4 months.

Disadvantages

  1. Because of knots used to secure the hair strands on the lace material, the lace hair system can look unnatural if the knots are not bleached.
  2. Due to the mesh fabric material, the lace hair system is not easy to clean. You need to ensure to remove adhesive residue that can easily get stuck on the holes.
  3. The lace hair system is made from delicate material. Therefore if not handled with care, it can easily tear.
  4. Lace hair systems are limited to the amount of density of light to medium and cannot take on heavier densities if one is looking for a very full head of hair.
  5. Lace hair systems have to be hand-tied when being ventilated and not machine wefted in order to look natural. This can make the lace hair system relatively costly for that more natural appearance and the ability to part the hair freely.

Lace Hair System Types

There are different types of lace materials used for different lace hair systems. There are 2 types of lace materials:

  • French lace
  • Swiss lace

French Lace Hair Systems

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEN’S LACE HAIR SYSTEM (14)

Not all lace hair systems are made the same. Just as the name suggests, the French lace hair system derives from its ventilation technique directly from France.

  • French lace is made of thick lace material. It can be distinguished by appearing slightly darker.
  • Thanks to the tiny hole from the mesh fabric, it is very breathable.
  • It is durable and sturdy and it can take more hair than other lace materials. It can take light to medium density with a maximum density of medium-heavy density.
  • Due to its breathability and durability, it is ideal for people who live an active lifestyle. Sturdy enough to withstand activities and air circulation to get rid of any sweat. This also makes it perfect for the summer weather or hot and humid weather.
  • The French lace hair system is lightweight, making it comfortable to wear all year round and can be comfortably worn all day and even during hot weather. The wearer will feel comfortable wearing the french lace hair system.
  • The french lace hair system is suitable for beginners, first-time users of wearing a lace hair system as it is not as fragile as other lace hair systems.
  • The French lace hair system is a high-quality material that gives the wearer a natural invisible hairline and no one can even tell one has a non-surgical hair replacement system on.
  • The French lace hair system takes a longer length than other lace hair systems.

Swiss Lace Hair Systems

Swiss hair systems are a great type of lace hair system. Just like the French lace system, it can cover bald spots and give an elegant feel and look to any man.

  • The Swiss lace hair system is much finer than the French lace hair system.
  • The Swiss lace hair system is extensively soft, much more so than the French lace hair system, making the Swiss lace hair system perfect for men who have sensitive scalps.
  • The french lace hair system is made of fine mesh fabric. A swiss lace hair system is made of more coarse mesh material.
  • The Swiss hair lace system is much lighter and finer than the French lace hair system. This indicates that it is a more delicate and fragile lace hair system. Being sensitive and delicate means the Swiss lace hair system can easily tear if one is not gentle with it.
  • The Swiss lace hair system takes much less volume than the French lace hair system. It can only take a density of light to medium density.
  • The Swiss lace hair system has a very realistic appearance and a very natural-looking hairline than all other lace hair systems. It will give you an extremely natural appearance and one is unable to tell you to have a toupee on.
  • The Swiss lace hair system is limited to its length of 5-6 inches. Any more can affect and most likely tear it.
  • Unfortunately, the Swiss lace hair system is fragile and can easily tear. It only lasts 4-8 weeks.
  • Swiss lace hair system is not recommended for first-time users and more experienced hair system wearers should get a swiss lace hair system.

For a Swiss lace hair system, only single knots are used throughout the whole base materials. The Swiss lace hair system is too light and can not take double knots. For the French lace hair system- single split knots are used at the front hairline as the knots are small and will contribute to giving the front hairline a more natural appearance. Sometimes double knots are used to ventilate the rest of the french lace material as the knots are stronger and will give the French lace hair system a more sturdy base, therefore increasing the lifespan of the lace hair system.

Deciding on whether you want a French lace hair system or a Swiss lace hair system also depends on what you are looking for in terms of density, cost, durability, and styling. Analyze your own hair density that will also help you match up with the ideal lace hair system.

Different Base Models

Non-surgical hair systems are designed with different base models to cater to the different individual needs of the wearer. A lace hair system can either be designed as

Full Lace Hair System

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEN’S LACE HAIR SYSTEM (3)

A full lace hair system is a non-surgical hair system that is designed from a mesh lace cap that covers the whole head. The lace cap of a full lace hair system helps create a natural look by blending in with the wearer’s skin. For some men who desire a hair replacement system, a partial cover that a toupee offers is not enough for them and they may want their whole head to be covered. A full lace hair system gives the astounding natural look that the whole lace hair system is your own hair. The hair strands are individually tied to the lace cap by the hair technician for that seamless natural look all around.

Benefits:

  1. Some people have experienced extensive hair loss and banding, all over the head or in different parts of the head. A partial men’s hairpiece is not enough to provide adequate scalp coverage. Full lace hair systems can cover the whole head all perimeters.
  2. A full lace hair system will conceal any thinning hair, bald spots, or any scalp defects without showing any trace.
  3. Can be parted in any direction. Thanks to the detailed hand-tied construction on the lace cap, a full lace hair system can be parted in any direction without worrying anyone can tell you have a lace hair system on. This is a huge advantage as one can create multiple hairstyles and not have to have a monotonous look. Additionally, it is very easy to drastically change up one’s look from everyday wear to a special occasion hairstyle.
  4. Create a very natural look. With a full lace cap that creates an invisible hairline plus hand-tied hair strands on the whole lace cap, a full lace hair system created a very realistic appearance for the wearers. The full lace hair system creates a flawless look giving the appearance that hair is growing from the head, whichever way you part it.
  5. More volume. A full lace hair system has more coverage and the hair system can take a higher density of medium to heave density. Perfect for those who want a thick head full of hair.
  6. Durability. Because the full lace hair system is created using a mesh cap to cover the whole head, the full lace hair system is more sturdy and less fragile from tearing. A  full lace hair system is not as delicate as a frontal lace system and is much stronger.
  7. Comfort. We love lace hair systems due to their breathability factor. Traditional troupes and low-quality toupees feel heavy, hot and cumbersome. Not desirable by most men due to the discomfort. With a full lace cap, it provides the ultimate air circulation all over your head, making it a great lace hair system own.
  8. Confidence. With a full lace hair system’s ability to completely cover perimeters of the head with new hair, a full lace hair system is the perfect confidence booster for any man experiencing extensive hair and scalp issues.
  9. Lifespan. With a bigger surface area for the lace material, the full lace hair system can last much longer than most lace hair systems.
  10. More length. With full lace hair systems being more sturdy and durable, full luxe hair systems are ideal for men who want their lace hair systems to have longer lengths of more than 6 inches and even up to 12 -14 inches.

Downside:

Because of the amount of lace materials used, the amount of hair strands added to the base material, and the intricate time and effort by the hair technicians to hand-tied the hair strands individually, a full lace hair system can be costly.

Front Lace Hair System

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEN’S LACE HAIR SYSTEM (5)

A front lace hair system is a lace hair system that encloses the entire front area of your head from temple to temple. Its main purpose is to be attached alongside your hairline and give that seamless and natural look an invisible hairline. A front lace hair system enhances your hair look by giving the illusion that the hair is growing out from the scalp.

Benefits

  1. A front lace hair system is ideal for men who are experiencing balding or hair thinning at the front hairline. If you have a receding hairline especially at the temple area, a front lace hair system is perfect for you.
  2. Naturalness. A front lace hair system will create a virtually undetectable hairline thanks to the lace, which is ideal for creating a seamless and natural look. You get to enjoy your front lace hair system without worrying about anyone knowing you have a toupee on.
  3. Versatility. At the front partition, a front lace hair system gives the wearer the ability to part at the front whether it’s a side part, middle, pull back, or no part.
  4. Affordable. Because the front lace hair system is a base model created from a partial lace material, the front lace hair system is much more adorable than a full lace hair system.
  5. Lightweight. The front lace hair system is soft and light, therefore, the wearer will be comfortable while wearing the front lace toupee without wearing it might feel heavy on the head.
  6. Breathability. The lace hair systems continue to remain supreme due to their breathability factor. The front lace hair system is great for air circulation and you do not have to worry about sweat that does not happen at your hairline.

Downside

  1. Limited to styling- the front lace hair system is limited to the variety of hairstyles one can wear as the front lace hair system only covers the hairline.
  2. Lifespan – front lace hair system has a shorter lifespan compared to the full lace hair system due to the minimal material of the lace base material used.
  3. Durability – a front lace hair system is a partial men’s hairpiece,  therefore, is more delicate,  fragile, and not as sturdy as a full lace hair system.
  4. Delicate- as the front lace hair system only covers the top part of the head, the lace is delicate and can easily tear if one is not careful.
  5. Less volume – a front lace hair system is limited in its density it can handle and it is normally a light density and sometimes medium density.
  6. Length – a front lace hair system does not handle longer hairpieces well due to its fragility. The front lace hair system limits its length to 5-6 inches.
  7. The front lace hair system requires more time and effort to achieve optimum results. As it is mostly focused on the temple and the hairline, it needs to have to correct and adjust the front lace hair system for it to look good.

As we had discussed earlier there are base materials other than lace: skin base and mono base. As we continue to understand the lace hair system we want to explore how to lace hair systems compared to other base materials.

Lace VS Skin

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEN’S LACE HAIR SYSTEM (7)

With the continuous advancement in the creation of high-quality non-surgical hair replacement systems, skin hair systems have become almost as popular as lace hair systems. For many first-time toupee wearers, when searching for a new hair system and lace hair systems are advertised as the go-too toupee. For many they struggle in being able to differentiate which hair system to choose as they do not know how both base materials distinguish from each other.

So which one is best for you?

We have already described the lace hair system, so now let’s define the thin skin lace hair system. The thin skin hair system is made from a very thin polyurethane fabric that mimics human skin on the scalp hence its name skin. Think of the way contact lenses function as being see-through. That is how the skin hair system works. You can see one’s scalp project the illusion that the hair is growing from their own head. Skin hair system feels like your own skin. The skin hair system is water-resistant as it is non-porous, which means that air, sweat, moisture will not get through the skin base. The thin skin hair system is made from a very thin skin base of 0.03mm so as to closely resemble the scalp to give the hair illusion that the hair is growing directly out of the scalp.

Below we will compare a lace hair system and skin hair system.

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEN’S LACE HAIR SYSTEM (4)

1. Ventilation

The lace hair system is ventilated by knots. Single or double knots are ventilated manually by a hair technician all through the lace hair system or they can be wefted by a machine. A thin skin hair system is ventilated by either v-loop or injected into the skin base. V-looped is a technique exclusively for thin skin hair systems. The hair strands are looked into the skin base and result in a v-shape. The hair is v-looped into the skin base so that there are no visible knots. Also, the hair strands are injected into the skin base and there are no knots like lace hair system:

2. Breathability

We cannot stress enough how much a lace hair system remains desirable due to the fact that it has small holes in the mesh fabric that enable air circulation. As for the thin skin hair system, it is not as breathable. This is because the skin base is non-porous. This means once it is attached nothing comes in or goes out. If you sweat, it stays in and the part of your scalp is covered with skin hair system so it does not get air circulation.

3. Bleaching

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEN’S LACE HAIR SYSTEM (8)

A lace hair system is ventilated using knots. These knots leave tiny black dots from the knotting on the base that make the lace hair system seem unnatural. It is mandatory and crucial for one to bleach the knots to make the lace hair system look natural. With thin skin hair systems v-looped or injected, there is no need for bleaching as there are no knots.

 4. Lightweight

The Lace hair system is lightweight, with the Swiss lace hair system being extremely light. The thin skin hair system is the thinnest base material making it very light. Both being light means they do not feel heavy on the head when worn.

5. Naturalness

Both thin skin hair system and lace hair system are loved because of the seamless, natural look and resemblance to natural hair. However, the thin skin hair system does a much better job and stands out as being an extremely realistic hair system. Even if someone is close to your head with a thin skin hair system on, one is unable to tell that you have a toupee on.

6. Delicate

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEN’S LACE HAIR SYSTEM (9)

Due to the intricacy of lace base and skin base, especially Swiss lace hair system is fragile and can easily tear. Thin skin hair system being as thin as 0.03mm, it is susceptible to damage when not handled gently.

7. Lifespan

Swiss lace hair system and thin skin hair system both have a short lifespan of 1 month. The French lace hair system can go up to 4 months.

8. Affordability

The more work is taken to create the hair system, the more pricey it will be. A lace hair system is much more costly than a skin hair system. The lace hair system can be worn all year round even during hot or humid weather due to its breathability factor. A thin skin hair system that being non-porous is not ideal for high heat or people who live a very active lifestyle.

 9. Comfortability

Lace hair systems are much more comfortable to wear than thin skin hair systems.

10. Attachment

The skin hair system is made of a smooth solid surface. Therefore, it is very easy to attach with adhesive glue. Removal and cleaning is also relatively easy as you can simply wipe the residue glue off. The lace hair system is made of mesh fabric with small holes therefore attaching with glue is tricky and tape is preferred. Removal is also hard as it is easy to damage the delicate lace base. You have to put in a lot of effort cleaning lace base hair systems as adhesive residue gets easily stuck in the holes. If not thoroughly cleaned, it can damage the lace base.

Lace VS Mono

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEN’S LACE HAIR SYSTEM (10)

The mono hair system has been around for a while and is almost very similar to the lace hair system in terms of material for the construction of a non-surgical hair system. The mono hair system is constructed from a fine-grade layer mesh base that is made from nylon material and has a gauze-like appearance. Its holes are much smaller than lace creating more sturdiness to the material. The mono hair system is made from the same mesh material the lace hair system is made from. Below we will compare the lace hair system and the mono hair system.

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEN’S LACE HAIR SYSTEM (6)

1. Durability

One of the biggest distinctions the mono hair system has with other base materials, especially lace hair systems, is its sturdiness. The mono hair system is designed with a thicker material that makes it able to withstand wear and tear. Unlike lace material which is delicate, fragile, and can easily tear when not handled gently.

2. Ventilation

Most types of lace hair systems use single knots due to their delicate material that may tear. With a mono hair system, one can use double knots all over the unit, which makes the mono base, even more, stronger with the hair strands secured.

3. Breathability

The mono hair system is made from the same material as a lace hair system, therefore, it is breathable. However, it is not as breathable as a lace hair system especially with its smaller holes.

4. Naturalness

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEN’S LACE HAIR SYSTEM (11)

Both lace hair system and mono hair system will give the wearer that seamless, natural look they are looking for from a toupee. Both lace and mono are able to give an invisible hair and the illusion that the hair is growing from the scalp. Nonetheless, a mono hair system can be bulky. It will tend to look less natural than a lace hair system.

5. Lifespan

With mono hair systems being very strong, sturdy, and durable, they can be worn for a very long time without the wearer worrying about the hair system getting damaged. A mono hair system can last 6-9 months. This is different from the lace hair system that has a relatively short lifespan. Average French lace hair system can last 2-4 months whilst a Swiss lace hair system can only last 1-2 months.

 6. Bleaching

Both lace and mono need to bleach their knots to get an invisible hairline for that flawless look.

7. Comfortability

Both lace hair systems and mono hair systems are comfortable. Lace hair system is supreme when it comes to the extent of how comfortable it is to the wearer, one of the reasons lace hair system is so popular. The mono hair system is comfortable but is not as comfortable as the lace hair system.

8. Lightweight

The lace hair system is known for being extremely lightweight. Mono base is made from a thicker and stronger material, therefore, it has slightly more weight to it. Nonetheless, it can still be worn the whole day without it feeling heavy.

9. Heat

Both mono and lace base are great for any weather. Though a lace hair system is more ideal for hot and humid weather, mono and lace hair systems can withstand heat as there is circulation in the monofilament fabric.

10. Density

What makes mono base stand out from lace base is its ability to take on more volume than all base materials. With a mono hair system being very sturdy and strong, it can take a medium to extra heavy density unlike a lace hair system can only take light to medium density. Mono base is ideal for men who want a very thick head full of hair with their hair replacement system. Additionally, with its stability, the mono hair system can take much longer lengths of up to 14 inches, unlike lace hair systems that are limited to the lengths of hair.

11. Cleaning

Mono hair system and lace hair system are a bit tricky when it comes to cleaning them. Sadly, with both of them being made of mesh fabric which has tiny holes, it is easy for gunk and adhesive residue to get stuck. Cleaning both hair systems takes a while, luckily with mono base, you do not have to worry about it getting damaged during this process, unlike lace hair systems. It is easy for the gunk not cleaned well to damage the base material and damage shorten the lifespan of the hair system.

How To Get an Invisible Hairline

Bleaching Knots

Bleaching knots is one of the most important steps in order for you to effectively enjoy your high-quality lace hair system. When lace hair systems are constructed, the hair strands are ventilated using knots to secure the hair strands on the lace base. When the hair strands are tied to the base material, they leave a dark spot from where each hair strand  was knotted in place. The knots are very visible and make the lace hair system look obvious and not so pleasant. By simply reducing the visibility of these knots, the lace hair system automatically blends with your own skin. The appearance of these knots can be done by bleaching the knots.

Bleaching the knots of your lace hair system involves lightening those dark knots on the base of the lace to make the knots less noticeable and facilitate creating the visual that the hair looks like it is growing out of the scalp. Without bleaching the knots, it will be very obvious you have a toupee on. This is an unavoidable step for a flawless lace hair system. Bleaching knots is actually simpler than you think. However, it can be difficult and disastrous if you do not follow the instructions as given.

It is always important before purchasing your lace hair system to know if the knots have been bleached or not. Great manufacturers will bleach the knots and the lace hair system will have an invisible hairline right out of the package. If not bleached you will have to bleach the knots of your lace hair system. So how do you bleach your lace hair system?

Things You Need

  • Bleach powder
  • Gloves
  • Volume Creme Developer (20 or 30 volumes)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Mixing brush
  • Mannequin (optional)
  • Neutralizing shampoo
  • Purple shampoo
  • Conditioner
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEN’S LACE HAIR SYSTEM (12)

Step 1

Turn the lace hair system upside down so the hair strands should be facing away from you. Use clips to keep the hair away and prevent fly away from coming in contact with the bleach mixture during the bleaching process. Put gloves on.

Step 2

Before starting the mixing process, read the manufacturer’s instructions on the packaging for optimum results. Mix equal parts of the developer in a mixing bowl with the bleach powder. Make sure you thoroughly mix. You do not want any lumps left. The viscosity of the mixture should be thick. You do not want a runny consistency as it will seep through the base to the hair. This may bleach hair stands and can deteriorate the sturdiness of the lace base. If your mixture accidentally gets too runny, add more power to correct that.

Step 3

Be gentle during the bleaching process. When applying the bleach on the knots, it’s crucial not to apply too much pressure applying the bleach mixture to inhibit leak through the other side of the lace material and bleach the hair stands. We recommend you use the dab method to apply the bleach mixture on the lace hair system. Once you are done applying the bleach mixture, cover the lace base with the aluminum foil and let it process. The process can take 15-30 minutes. Make sure the knots change color to a honey blonde color. You do not want a platinum blonde color, as this will give the knots a brassy color and make the lace hair system look unnatural. Make sure to keep the bleach mixture on until you can visually see the knots are unnoticeable.

Step 4

Rinse the bleach mixture off the lace hair system. Rinse with a lace hair system upside down to avoid and bleach musher from getting into the hair strands. Shampoo the lace hair system with a neutralizing shampoo which is essential to stop the bleaching processes. Leave the shampoo on for 5-10 minutes then rinse out.

If the knots are slightly brassy, use a purple shampoo to tone out the hair for that honey blonde color. Follow up with conditioning the hair.

Dye-After Method

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEN’S LACE HAIR SYSTEM (13)

As we have just discussed earlier, bleaching knots is an important step to ensure that you have a lace hair system that looks natural and easily blends with the scalp. Getting rid of the knots or the visibility of the tiny dots is a must. We also discussed how intricate the bleaching the hair strands and damaging the lace material. Nobody wants to damage a costly high-quality lace hair system just to have an invisible hairline. Some manufacturers have found a smart alternative to this- the dye-after method. This method involves dying the hair after creating invisible knots. How is this achieved?

Use human hair that is a light color aka the blondes, honey blondes or other lighter colors. The hair strands are knotted to the lace base. This means that the knots are already invisible once ventilated, as there will be no dark knots on the lace hair system. If you want the hair strands to be darker color or black, the hair strands are simply dyed dark, which is much easier and safer. This technique guarantees you will not compromise the durability and lifespan of the lace hair system.

Why Dye-After Method

  • You can avoid accidentally bleaching the hair strands.
  • It is much easier and safer to dye the hair strands leaking.
  • The dye-after method reduces the chances of damage to the base of the lace hair system as you bleach the knots.

How to Attach Lace Hair System

Attaching your lace hair system is one of the most important steps to properly enjoying wearing the lace hair system and not attaching it properly will look unnatural and no longer serve its function of looking like it is your own hair. For a lace hair system, it is advisable to use toupee tape to attach the lace hair system. Make sure to read the instructions of the adhesive package to correctly place the tape.

Step 1

The hair and scalp should be clean before application. There should be no dirt, sweat, or any facial products on you. Ensure that there is no residue left on the scalp from any previous wear. Wash your face and pat dry. Shampoo your hair and let it dry. An adhesive solvent can help with this.

Step 2

Apply scalp protection on the perimeters and entire head to protect the scalp and ascertain the bond effectively desires the lace hair system.

Step 3

Peel the tape protector on the side for the toupee and accurately stick the toupee tape on the base of the lace hair system. Peel the other side of the toupee tape and place the tape in designated parts of your scalp. Gently press on the perimeters and hairline where you have placed the toupee tape to set the toupee tape and give hold for 3-5 minutes to let the bond set.

How to Wash a Lace Hair System

Washing your lace hair system is one of the most important steps of maintaining your toupee. Failing to take care of your high-quality toupee can shorten its lifespan as the hair will dry and the lace can clog up with dirt. You want to clean the lace hair system to keep the hair strands detangled, hydrated, and soft. Do not leave the toupee tape on too long: with sweat, heat, or moisture, the bond starts to break down. Remember that lace is delicate and can easily tear if you are not careful during the washing process.

Step 1

Remove the toupee tape. Take your time to remove the tape. Use your fingernails to gently lift the corners of the tape off your lace. Because of the little holes in the lace base, dirt can get stuck.

Step 2

Soak the lace in a liquid solvent or soap dish for 30 minutes to aid in removing any stubborn adhesive residue.  Do not let the lace hair system soak for too long, as that can damage the unit.

Step 3

Rinse the lace hair system once you are done soaking. Shampoo the hair system with a gentle shampoo. If it is really dirty, use a clarifying shampoo. Rinse with warm water.

Step 4

Applying a moisturizing conditioner to the hair and let it stay 5-15 minutes. Use this time to gently detangle the hair. Rinse out.
